Omega Intelligence Systems website on a laptop

A decade turning Omega into one coherent, scalable design system.

Omega Intelligence Systems makes installable desktop software that helps finance and banking teams make decisions from their data — built on real algorithms, not today’s AI slop. I’ve designed for them since 2016, when the craft still meant slicing assets by hand in Photoshop and handing them to developers over Dropbox. The first product painted every subpage a different colour of the rainbow; it looked distinctive, but it didn’t scale, and accessibility suffered every time we added a page. Small tweaks became a partnership now mapped to 2030.

From slicing assets to owning the system.

Today I own the design system and every product, UX and UI decision behind it — why this component, why this typeface, why this structure — and I bring the founders a few explored options rather than one fixed answer. They own the roadmap and the timing; I own the craft, write the specifications developers build from, and run QA on the final product. As the collaboration grew I led two other designers through it — concept reviews, weekly stand-ups, onboarding, and the standards that keep the whole thing coherent.

How it grew up

Over the years we retired the rainbow and committed to a single colour — purple — and from it I built a scalable, accessibility-minded palette. That became the seed of a design system that matured alongside the product. I moved the source of truth into Figma, componentised the interface, and wrote implementation rules clear enough that developers could ship on their own terms. The same system now carries the native desktop app, the website, branding, print and campaigns — down to Omega’s 25th-anniversary identity.

What it changed

Work on a single feature got roughly 40% faster — a mature, scalable system means fewer decisions to make from scratch each time. Today that system spans 840 elements, current and archived — atoms, colours, typography, components — all held in one place. Figma stayed the single source of truth, clear enough that developers ship continuously, without hours of alignment meetings.

A decade of working together

“Jakub has led design for us for nearly ten years. He thinks in systems, sets the standard the rest of the team builds to, and delivers without drama. He’s who I call when it has to be right.”
